
Sandra George’s photographs are a poignant reminder of a previous period of social activism in the working class communities of Edinburgh. As Councillor Margaret Graham says, they “offer an invaluable record of Edinburgh and its communities, seen through the eyes of someone deeply committed to social justice, equality, and human connection”. It’s important to add that they are carefully observed and beautifully crafted.


Born in Nottingham and raised between Jamaica and the UK before settling in Edinburgh, she became widely known for her work as a community organiser and advocate.
